WORK WITH US – DAILY LIFE AT INVENIO
Just come and get started
How will the first day be? Are the colleagues friendly? Where do I spend my lunch break? The first workday is something special – a new adventure begins! We promote a distinctive welcome culture because we wish our new employees to feel happy at invenio right from the start. Each new employee will be assisted by an experienced colleague as a mentor. This way, each newcomer has a personal contact partner who supports him/her for the daily questions. During an introductory event you will get to know invenio and learn everything worth knowing as an employee. During the welcome lunch you can exchange ideas with your new colleagues.
Dual Studies with invenio
Perry L. (26), Project Manager and Designer
Internship as a door opener
"My story at invenio started with a voluntary five days' internship. I liked it so much that I took up vocational training to become a technical product designer after my secondary school. I have also obtained an entrance qualification for the university by means of evening courses."
"After working for two years at invenio after my vocational training, I was offered a dual study course. I have studied mechanical engineering specialized in production engineering."
The stress has paid off
"Of course, you should not underestimate all the time that is required after all you have least a 40-hour-week and no semester breaks. But all the stress has paid off: I now work as a project manager and design engineer."
Family and profession combined ideally
Thomas T. (36), Team Manager Engineering Services
„Since I have become a father, my work hours have changed significantly. To be able to care for my son, as a family, we generally get up two hours earlier. As a rule, I arrive at the office around 08:00 a.m. Sometimes it happens that I arrive around 09:00 a.m. and stay longer at the office."
Two months off
"Altogether, I have taken two months parental leave. My colleagues and my boss took care of my tasks in the meantime. From time to time had to give some feedback, but otherwise I was able to fully focus on my family. This ran really smoothly and I felt superb!"
Home office allowed
"Flexibility is what matters most to me, since I want to be with my family at spontaneous moments. Fortunately, I can plan my appointments independently or simply work at home. My colleagues, my supervisors and also our managing director have kids themselves and know what it is about.“
David H. (18), Vocational training to become a mechatronics technician
Mechanics, Electrics and Computer Science
"After school, I did not know which job I wanted to have in the future. But it was clear to me that it had to be a practical one. At invenio I learn the basics of mechanics, electrics and computer science, which allow me to understand the functions of entire test and manufacturing systems and how to maintain them."
Boring? Not with us!
"What should never be missing on a workday? Interesting tasks and problems that need to be solved. This makes not only every workday exciting, you also always learn something new. What I enjoy very much in my training is the rotation and manufacturing of structural elements and the assembly of the components."
Secret hint: Personal application
"You should hand out your application in person, for example, at a job fair or following an appointment at the company. This way, you can make direct contact and get a better picture of the company."
Training to become a Project Leader
Christina P. (30), Project Leader, Virtual Geometric Validation
"The virtual vehicle development piqued my interest. I wanted to learn more about what happens before a car hits the street. Today, I am actively involved in this task. I enjoy very much solving tricky tasks with my colleagues."
"I have studied mechanical engineering with a focus on quality management. Over six years ago, I started at invenio as a project employee and I have now become a projectleader. For over two years, I have worked as a projectleader in the virtual geometric protection area."
Secret hint: Success due to openness
"Always be yourself from the first day on and be open to new colleagues, situations and tasks. I was welcomed with open arms and people have treated me very friendly. Today, I introduce new employees myself and share my knowledge and experience with them."
Creative tasks as a working student
Alexander A. (25), Working Student, test engineering and automation
Practical experience: Searched and found
"I have applied in a very traditional way for an available internship in the test engineering and automation field. My mechanical engineering studies required an obligatory six months' internship. Afterwards, I was offered to work for invenio as a working student twice a week".
Creativity is demanded
"Along with the design and manufacturing of smaller parts, I also create presentations and concepts. Thus, I have the typical tasksof a design engineer. I enjoy being creative and thinking of innovative things. I would really like to write my master’s thesis at invenio."
Secret hint: Being well prepared is half the job
"Even it is just an internship or a secondary job, you should really prepare well for the application interview. Along with the usual questions about myself and the company, I also had to take a recruitment test. But with a little preparation, the interview will not pose any problem."
From an intern to a developer
Stephan M. (27), Developer product and system development
Thesis with practical orientation
"I started at invenio as an intern. Later on, I worked as a working student and also wrote my bachelor thesis here. After completing my studies, I got a job as a developer."
From prototype to series
"My tasks include the design and development of prototypes until it is a production-ready product. I particularly enjoy the continuous new challenges, changing activities and teamwork."
Secret hint: Practical experience is the alpha and omega
"It is important to gain practical experience already in the beginning of your studies – for example, as a working student. Since what is most important for a successful career, is to set goals and to have a clear vision."
We are development partners not only for our customers, but also for our employees, since our success depends on their satisfaction and performance. To stimulate our employees in the best way we can, we do not offer any uniform training programs, but we support them individually, according to their personal and professional orientation. For example, the invenio Academy offers a comprehensive training and consulting package around engineering processes, which is also available to our employees. During our regularly feedback and orientation meetings, you may discuss with your direct supervisor on an individual future planning that suits you personally.
